November 7 / Craft and Art Shows |
There are some truly great Craft Shows to visit Van Duesen has several this month, and the South Delta Artists' Guild has one on Nov. 16/17th at the South Delta Rec Center across from MacDonalds on 56th St., which is the main avenue into Tsawwassen. We also have an art exhibit along with the craft show, and an Art Show in the Mall behind Pharmasave from Nov 29 - Dec 8th. If you're into art, the artists are VERY good (it's hard to compete) Join us. |

November 14 / Hi to all |
It is so good to eavesdrop on the social events and other chat in our web site. Makes an Oak Bay girl in Oz a wee bit homesick, even though I had a wonderful two months in Canada in your summer. |
I am not even home, right now. Got back here late August and within a couple of weeks plunged into a contract which saw me fly to Jakarta, then come here to Melbourne - to run a nine-week course for Indonesian journalists from print, radio and TV media outlets. The course is funded by the Australian aid agency. It has been pretty challenging, especially after the October 12 bombings in Bali - which has had considerable fallout for Australian-Indonesian relations... |
Looking forward to getting home to Canberra in early December. |
Warm regards to all from an Australia experiencing its worst drought in a decade! |

November 24 / Martha and Sandy in Melbourne |
Hi All,
Social notes from Oz: |
Just in case you think I am too green with envy about all the get-togethers in Victoria and Vancouver... |
Had a call last Thursday from Martha Attwell Downing, who's been here in Australia for her son's wedding north of Sydney. Her two daughters are here, too along with some 20 other Canucks! Her son is with Air Canada, as are many of the guests... |
Martha and older daughter came along to Melbourne after the nuptials. Martha's late husband taught engineering at the Uni of Melbourne at one point, so she wanted to see it and me! My husband Rob (visiting me on the weekend from Canberra) and I took them out to dinner to Melbourne's best French restaurant to celebrate Martha's upcoming 60th. We did some of the sights together, as well. Martha and I have been friends since we were five... |
And Sue McLean Evans and her husband Rob are in southern Queensland for some weeks while Rob works on a book. Will be speaking to Sue on the phone, but not sure I will make it up there to see them. It will be nice to get back to Canberra after 10 weeks here in Melbourne. |
Catchyerlater, as we say in Oz. |

November 26 / Parents... |
If you knew my mother raise a glass to a fighting spirit who wrestled with death to the last. She was a wonderful lady with the courage to go on in the face of adversity. I will miss her. If you still have parents celebrate them. |

Looks like fun, think Pats & I will take it in on the Tuesday. |
