| Otherwise we have been having some weird weather with the wettest February ever, 20 cm snow a couple of weeks ago, storms and today was a spring-like 10 degrees C. |

| For some time Gary and I have been trying to find an old photo of the Oak Bay Avenue A&W. This particular one [on our home page] was found on the internet, apparently circa 1954, but unfortunately no mention as to where in Canada the picture was taken. It might be Winnipeg where the first one was built, but I do not think it is the one on the avenue. |
| Since the demise of our old haunt, the company has taken many twists and turns. It has been sold numerous times to large companies like Lever Brothers and there does not seem to be any archive of the old drive-ins held on file. |
| Hard to believe you could get a root beer for a nickel, but then I could put 35 cents worth of gas in the car and drive to town and back with an engine running three carburetors. The management at the Oak Bay drive-in frowned on us getting out of our cars and visiting with friends. They would tell us we had to stay in the car or they would call the police. I wonder how you got to use the washrooms. Perhaps you had to hold up your hand. |
| Residents were not too happy when it was being built and wrote letters to the Oak Bay Leader complaining of this "vulgar and tawdry establishment being constructed which will only attract undesirables". |

| Hi All, |
| Haven't been very communicative for a while, but want to take the opportunity of wishing you all a Happy Easter from the southern hemisphere. |
| Looking forward to seeing all those who will be at Craig's on June 22, and on the walk the following day. It will be great to be in Victoria in June, again. |

| March 26 / Catch up |
| It has been a long time since I checked in.. have been in Vic. several times this past quarter year, and will be there next weekend (12th -14th). My sister and I have rented a small studio apartment in James Bay now that the family house is sold. (To another family named Wilson!) The apartment is just a block from James Bay Lodge, where my mother is. Dad is in Parkwood Care Center, and is adjusting well. |
| I too am looking forward to a fun weekend in June as these past trips have been work trips to pack up house etc. |
