February 13 / The First Elvis Impersonator
Many of you will remember Victoria's Jim Smith (married Liz Campbell) who did really good Elvis impersonations in 1956 on CHEK TV. Norm Pringle has just opened a page devoted to Jim along with some photos on his Cyber Cloud Radio Station. Norm sends his best to the class and invites us to visit the page.

February 20 / Timely Message
I'm posting this message at 8:02 pm to bring to your attention an interesting bit of trivia that might otherwise have gone unnoticed except by, perhaps, Richard.
On the 24-hour clock, this moment in time reads in perfect symmetry as 20:02, 20/02, 2002.
This chronological symmetry has happened only once before – at 10:01 am on October 1, 1001 – and, as the 24-hour clock goes up to only 23:59, will never happen again.

February 22 / House Party
I remember being a panel member on the old "House Party" show on CHEK TV in the later fifties. Jim Smith was terrific as Elvis and we used to adjudicate upcoming tunes as a hit or a miss. The program format was partly based on Peter Potter's "Hit or a Miss" from the states. The first number that we judged was "That'll Be The Day" by Buddy Holly and the Crickets. One of my favourites! On the panel I recall Ian Stott, whose father, Art, wrote for the Colonist. Also remember Goof Stevens, a beatnik artist, was always around the program in those days. Sadly, that's the end of my recall of a fun time.
Rave On!
