April 12 / BC Visit
Aloha to you all!
I will be in Victoria and Vancouver this week and/or next and I dearly hope that I can see some of you while I am there. I have left this very late (I can't believe that it is already April!!!!)
My newest news is that my newest grandchild (Clara Eve) arrived 4 1/2 weeks early — on the 10th, and is well and presumably happy. We all are. She lives in Indiana, (my daughter Kyla's 2nd child)
I'll be at Fiona's in Vancouver (429-2039) and Norm's in Victoria (477-9603)
HOPE to see you while I'm there.

April 20 / Victoria Walk on the 25th
Hi All,
Phil is taking us to the Legion this month. Put on your patriotic smile.
We begin at the Gorge Bridge. Park across from the Hotel in the Kinsman park. I think we met there before a couple of years ago. We'll walk toward Craigflower, turning at Gosper. Follow Gosper to Banfield Park and hence across the bridge to the Legion. Returning will be quicker by taking Gorge Road or the waterside walkway.
We'll leave at 10:45 just to be on the safe side for a table... if we're a bit early, I have no qualms against drinking beer in the morning especially if the sun is shining.
Let me know if you'll be along and don't forget the change to a 10:45 start. A little change in routine should fire up a couple of little-used synapses.

April 23 / Classmates and '59 Grads
For anyone interested, Loralee Turgoose Hagar is helping to organize a couple of events. The following is a copy of her recent letter...
April 21, 2003
Hello Oak Bay High School Classmates and '59 Graduates.
A few of us have gathered to compile a list for a future 2004 gathering in Victoria to celebrate 45 years after graduation at Oak Bay High School. We are also adding those classmates who for one reason or another were not in the class of '59 but who were with us through elementary, junior high and part of high school. Some left school, some moved, and some jumped ahead, so we thought it would be fun to include them as well.
The present plans are to meet at the Uplands Golf Club on Sept. 17, 2004 to register and greet and then to gather again Sept. 18, 2004 for dinner, entertainment and dessert. If you know of any of our fellow classmates that are talented and would like to entertain us on the Saturday evening, please contact Maureen (Carey) Marwood, her email address is mmarwood@shaw.ca
However, we need your help to give us the contacts you know. We also need YOUR information too: home address, phone number, email address, spouse name. We are putting all your names into our computers and Mikes Munro Patterson (mmpatterson@shaw.ca) and I are backing the program up in an Excel Program. We have begun a Master Sheet and the more people we can contact the better success for our gathering. At the same time, if you know of any of our fellow grads that have died, we would appreciate that information too.
We would also like to invite you to a SURVIVOR party. You and your partner are invited to an OUTDOOR & CASUAL gathering to be held FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2003 between 3 PM - 7 PM at Derek and Pat Mercer's home at 948 Garthland Road, Victoria, B.C.
We ask you to bring YOUR OWN LIQUID REFRESHMENTS (BYOB) plus an appetizer that would feed 6 people and that you please make it FINGER FOOD. Kindly RSVP to Linda Pettersen Essery, either by email tessery@shaw.ca or by mail at 3628 Doncaster Drive, Victoria BC V8P 3W6 or by telephone at (250) 477-9321
We look forward to hearing from you. Loralee Turgoose Hagar (loralee@islandnet.com) and the rest of the committee....

April 27 / Miss Applegate's Class
Dear All,
I haven't looked at the site for a while, so I am just now jumping in to say I enjoyed seeing our Grade 1 class again...and I think I have some missing names.
In the back row, it was Christopher Longridge.
In the next row, I see Jane Seatle (sp?) and next to Miss (Joyce) Applegate, Clyde Blyth.
In the third row I see Patsy Goodspeed, Glenna Reside, Patsy Gould, Jean Crisp and Barbara Blyth. Any others recognised?
What is amazing is how many of us were in the same classes all the way through and how many of us got to the various reunions since 2000!
I will be in Victoria in June...but won't be able to stay for the party with kids who turned 60 this year. Sorry! Maybe some of us can get together for lunch on June 10 or 11? Is anyone else going to the UVic special convocation for grad class of 1964? That is why I am going to be in B.C. in June.
Cheers, Sandy
PS: Please note new email address...we have gone broadband!
