April 17 / HI TO ALL THOSE FRIENDS OUT THERE
The last time we talked it was to tell everyone where we were going. It's nice to see that a lot of people did what they said they were going to do. Many thanks to all those who typed, looked, and found lost people, and spent so much time and effort to get the message out.
- Laurel
Laurel Page Johnson laurelj@aebc.com

April 18 / DO WHAT WE SAID WE WOULD DO
Hey, Laurel and all.. I don't remember what I said I would do, but I sure know it's not what I ended up doing! Only joking, life is good, but have to admit even 22 years later I still wonder how it is I ended up in Los Angeles!
- Diane
diane (wilson) dyer ddwithlove@excite.com

April 18 / BIOGRAPHIES
Let's hear what everyone has been up to for 40 years. Gary and I are ready to mount your true-life stories on the website. Gutsy we are! You'll find ours already there. Soon to appear are: Ian Else, Sandra McKeachie (Forbes), Wendy Pite (Hannington) and Brian Wilson.
- Dave
Dave Foster davfoste@islandnet.com

April 19 / THE INSTIGATOR
Some of you have been asking who it was who started all this. It all began when Sandy Forbes (McKeachie) emailed me at 1:30 AM on February 27th of this year and suggested a reunion. Within days, emails were circulating world wide and suddenly Sandy realized that her idea was becoming a reality. I am sure everyone joins me in extending to her a big thank you for making this happen.
- Richard
Richard Goodall rgoodall@shuswap.net

April 20 / CONGRATULATIONS GARY & COMMITTEE!
You're doing a wonderful job. Any way I can help in Vancouver, let me know. The Web Site is really classy (ha,ha).
- Maureen
Maureen (Dowling) Sawkins msawkins@vcc.bc.ca

April 20 / THANK YOU, SANDY
I always thought it strange we never had a reunion, and I even thought maybe I had not been found. I am very grateful, and I am working on my bio this weekend.
- Diane
diane (wilson) dyer ddwithlove@excite.com

April 20 / THAT FIRST STEP!
I'm sure the thought of a reunion has crossed many of our minds over the years, but we've done nothing about it. It makes you wonder how many good things don't happen just because that first step isn't taken. Fortunately for us, we've got Sandy!
- Gary
Gary Wilcox gwilcox@direct.ca

April 21 / DIANE WILSON'S ADDRESS
With an address like that, I am sure Diane gets loads of mail! Wow good stuff. Am looking forward to seeing everyone.
- George
George Guernsey GuernseyVet@aol.com

April 22 / DIANE'S ADDRESS
I want an address like Diane's! I'm the last guy I would have thought would have showed any interest in a reunion and yet here I am in the thick of it and enjoying it immensely. Thank you Sandy.
- Dave
Dave Foster davfoste@islandnet.com

April 22 / MUSICAL MEMORIES
I had forgotten the Golden Galleon. I gave an album to my girl friend of the Everly Bros. for her birthday. Nice touch. This site is getting more interesting every day. Keep up the good work. I am thinking of having a mini reunion just before the real one with a couple of the gang who live out here in Ont. Talk to you soon Doug, Craig, and John.
- Ian
Ian Else ielse@home.com

April 22 / The June Reunion, from class of 1960
I just got around to getting into the chat room and must add my little bit. Did anyone go to the Oak Bay Reunion, held in 1980? I did, and found we were grouped together with much younger students, and it was a big confusing altogether. I'm sure that this will be much better, as we were all in the same boat, and will get to see old friends that we haven't for many years. Only 8 weeks to go (8 beers).
- Lianne
Lianne (Catt) Hunter lhunter@islandnet.com

April 24 / OBHS REUNION
Heeyyy!!!! Great stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing old classmates and I may even be able to spare some time and pop down to the 'Snug' some Friday. Everybody concerned has done a super job with the organization and website. Hope to see you soon.
- George
George OBriain Brwdpatch@Aol.com

April 25 / OTHER PEOPLE'S REACTIONS
I am genuflecting in awe of all of you who have put together the plan, the site, the photos, the music and the absolute gift this reunion will be for all of us. However, I must say that, at work (where people are disgustingly young), there is one guy who - when our company turned 20 years old, said to me: Gee Michele, I was 3 when you started it! You can imagine his reaction when he heard about the '40th'! Guess when I was his age, I couldn't imagine a 40th either, but I'm sure glad the rest of you did! See you in June.
- Michele
michele (marinker) matthews mmatthews@saatchi.ca

April 25 / REUNION
Great job, Gary! The WebSite gets better and better each week. The jukebox is terrific! Looking forward to seeing everyone June 16.
- Brian
Brian Wilson annebrian@home.com

April 25 / OBHS '60 REUNION
May I add my thanks to all you great organizers! I must say, when Richard Goodall called several weeks ago about a reunion, I felt rather anxious -- I mean 40 YEARS! Having since enjoyed chats with Lois Elwood, Trudy Humber and Pat Gunning the idea is starting to sound like fun. Sandra McKeachie, Marjorie Aaronson and Martha Atwell have you still got our grade one photograph? I have.
- Terry
Therese Williams (a.k.a. Terry Bradshaw)

April 25 / THANK YOU GARY
this is getting really fun, even if certain people take pot shots at my email address...thanks, Gary and all. Good to hear from you, Michelle!
- Diane
diane (wilson) dyer ddwithlove@ excite.com OR ddyer@viva.com

April 25 / NICE TRY!
Forget about the second address, Diane.
- Gary
Gary Wilcox gwilcox@direct.ca

April 26 / GOLDEN GALLEON
Is that really the Golden Galleon in the juke box photo? Never thought I would see it again. They don't make greasy spoon coffee shops like that any more. Sigh....
- Tom
Tom Masters tmasters@islandnet.com

April 26 / BIOS
A small request to those who will email me their biographies. Please don't send "attachments"! Just basic email. Thanks!
...I find myself in awe of all the life experiences pouring in. Why am I so interested? There's something "soapish" and daring about delving into other people's lives!
- Dave

davfoste@islandnet.com

April 27 / GRADE 1, WILLOWS SCHOOL
Yes, Terry, Brian Wilson scanned in that pic and emailed it: interesting that so many of us turn up again in the OBHS grad pic in the gym! A stable society in those days. If anyone wants to reach me @ a cybercafe in the weeks before the reunion, see address below. XXX 000
- Sandy
Sandy (McKeachie) Forbes forbes_sandy@hotmail.com

April 29 / OOOOLD FRIENDS
I just read through the chats, what a wonderful feeling to see words from people I have not seen in 40 years. Gary you have done a terrific job with this web site. WELL DONE. I am really looking forward to seeing the gang of 1960 and further chats in this chat room.
- Ron
Ron McKeever ronmckeever@pacificcoast.net

April 29 / A&W DRIVE-IN
How many times did I drive into that Oak Bay A&W for a "small orange and a baby burger"? It was usually all I could afford on my measly allowance. Someone usually ordered a "Swamp water" or that ugly mixture of milk and root beer. The name eludes me. Jungle Juice? The last drive-in in Canada shuts tomorrow. Too bad! Could have gone for a little nostalgic visit during the reunion.
- Dave
davfoste@islandnet.com

April 29 / A&W DRIVE-IN
Ah yes, Swamp Water - for those with more refined tastes! I think it was 50% root beer and 50% orange. Does anyone have a photo of the A&W on Oak Bay Avenue?
- Gary
gwilcox@direct.ca

April 30 / OLD HAUNTS
On a Friday night the A&W was perhaps the first stop on the way out to the Tillicum outdoor theatre. My girlfriend and I went there many times but I'll be darned if I can remember the title or content of even one movie that was showing. On a Saturday it was Western Speedway and the White Spot on Douglas.
