September 4 / Back in Oz
I have really enjoyed catching up with the chat, having been in NZ for a month of the most delightful holiday. It is so beautiful...spent a lot of time in the Bay of Islands region, which is sort of like the Gulf Islands in the South Pacific. Met a student from UVic on a boat trip, whom I ran into again in Rotorua. Small world. Visiting Rotarua was a thrill; reminded me of Grade 5 Social Studies. I think our textbook raved on about the geysers and "plop-plopping mud pots of Rotorua". Went to a spa there and was totally covered in that mud, mixed with ginger "for warmth" - wrapped in it for 20 minutes, then into a 180-degree shower, and finally "replenished" with a massage. Wunnnderful. It is good to live long enough to achieve such things, innit? My husband Rob joined me over my (59th) birthday weekend which we spent at a wonderful resort (actually, they called it a "retreat")in the aforementioned Bay of Islands area. Lucky us. And Rob delivered a lovely birfday card from Martha Daysmith, Diane Wiper and Connie Ballam, who had all signed it together in Victoria at a picnic at the beach. Connie was visiting from London...
Another nice note: saw a lovely painting by one of Dick's ancestors, Frederick Goodall, RA, in the Auckland Art Gallery. Small world, isn't it?
Good to catch up with the news...your son's Barbadian wedding sounded just brilliant, Ian. And glad to hear about Wendy's shedded avoirdupois...and the concerts...and even the car stuff.
The good feelings generated by our reunion just continue, don't they? Once again: lucky us.

September 4 / Victoria Wooden Boat Festival
Irene and I spent a wonderful Labour Day Weekend in Victoria to take in the Wooden Boat Festival. We had a short chat with Brian Wilson and admired his lovely sailboat. I build cedar strip canoes and kayaks so I was most impressed with his beatiful self built small lapstrake dingy. Our class mates have so many hidden talents we didn't think about when we were teenagers. The boat festival was a wonderful way to end a great summer season.

Hi everyone – I haven't had a chance to create an October page yet so in the meantime . . .

October 7 / Thanks to Committee
Thanks to the continuing committee for organising the dates for next year's Class of '60 turns 60 get-together, and to Dick for notifying us...I have also passed on word to some others who were with us at school over the years but whose faces do not appear in the 1960 yearbook. I think it will be gracious to invite those who drifted away from the Oak Bay scene for one reason or another. We would love to see them, too.
Looking forward to seeing y'all again.
