November 1 / SCOTTISH MUSIC
Well Sandy, can't say that I ever took in the Bonnie Scotland show although I vaguely recall my resident grandmother listening to some radio program where the bagpipes were often played. This prompted my Anglo father to put down whatever he was doing and go out and work in the garden. As I was never invited to any of your highschool parties, I am curious to know (jokingly of course) if the choice of music included Chuck Berry, the Everly Brothers and Rick Nelson or was it Jimmy Shand, Jock Dunbar with a sprinkling of Don Messer to liven things up and give it a Cape Breton flavour. Just in case you are getting the wrong impression, unlike my father I quite enjoy traditional Scottish and Irish music including the pipes.

November 1 / HALLOWEEN BONFIRE
The annual bonfire was held last nite at the firehall - apparently a great success again. The feature entertainers for years were the Hometowners (led by Fred Usher - father of our 1960 grad Brian Usher). Doris Usher continued the tradition for years but unfortunately passed away shortly before the reunion in June.

November 4 / LOOKING FOR BLAINE TRINGHAM
Greetings from the class of 1958 (or at least from one of us). Whoever put together the web pages for the Class of '60 has done a wonderful job. Congratulations!

...I am looking for an old classmate, Blaine Tringham. He was probably my best friend in high school, but I haven't seen him since 1966. While living in Ontario, I would look up his address on Canada 411 from time to time. He lived in Vancouver for most of the last 40 years but I can no longer find where he is. We were supposed to meet when we turned 50 years old, but I guess we just forgot about it. So I would like to try to at least make it for our 60th! Any help in locating Blaine would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

November 5 / ANOTHER HELLO FROM DENMARK
I was just reading about Norm Pringle, and thought that maybe some of you would remember the Aussie Rolf Harris. As far as I remember, he was in BC for about ten years. I remember him giving shows at UVic at noon. I saw him on BBC doing an animal show in an animal clinic. Just thought that you'd all like to know that it isn't Kangaroos that he is tying down any more.

...We had elections here as to whether to change our money from Danish Kroner to EURO's. We are going to continue using our own currency as the majority voted 'nej' to the change.
...The fall has made up for the really crummy summer that we had. Luckily we haven't been having the extreme weather that they are getting in UK now.

November 12 / JOHN SPARKS
I was a kid announcer at CKDA when Norm Pringle was spinning "House Party." I spent many frantic moments with John Sparks (deceased) of Oak Bay High at Uvic's first radio station. He was a very talented Oak Bay High student. Anyone remember him? For myself, I attended at the "other place'.....University School. Sorry!

November 12 / JOHN SPARKS
Yes, I remember John Sparks well. He was very talented and I recall him in early CBC comedy as well as amateur stage productions in Victoria. It was an annual tradition to visit the Sparks family at their Windsor Rd. home for "open house" on Christmas day. John is survived by his brother Roger and sister Penny.

November 15 / DAVID MILNE
Hi! Does anyone know anything about David's whereabouts? I think he was a year behind us. We were pretty good friends in Victoria College. It's interesting how this reunion has brought so many people to mind outside of our class! Kathie Herriot and Judy Knowles were neighborhood friends, anyone know anything about them?

November 20 / HARMONY BOYS QUARTET
Gee, I have in my wallet a small snapshot of Roger Sparks, Jim (Tommy) Armstrong, Dave Ringstad with Baritone Ukelele and a wide eyed Grade 10 Bass singer. We were singing "Darktown Strutter's Ball"...."I'll be down to get you in a taxi, honey." I think it was at OBJH and it was a thrill to be asked to sing with the seniors! Does anyone have updates on these fellows?
Sing-cerely,

November 22 / LUNCH AT McMORRANS
Victoria boasts some unique restaurants and on November 16th, Lynn Ramsay, Lianne Catt, Jillian Boorman, Carol Dumbleton, Carol Kirkendale, Bronwen Lamport, Martha Atwell and me, Laurel Page enjoyed the view and enjoyed the lunch. Phone your classmates, we all find that serendipity in our lives keeps us young, and there are lots of us looking for an excuse to do lunch!
Cheers,
- Laurel

November 22 / MINI-REUNION IN CANBERRA
Thanks to Maureen Dowling passing on email addresses...we had classmate Sue McLean (Evans) for dinner last night here in Canberra, with her husband Rob Evans. She was very interested in hearing about the OBHS reunion...though she moved to Ottawa and didn't stay to graduate with us, she did go off to Europe in our "five" (Jay Botterell, Sue Lort, Martha Daysmith and we two)...and is eager to join our next venture when the Class of 60 turns 60 (well, many of us, at least...).

November 26 / CLASSMATES and FRIENDS
Diane (Wilson)...see your note re David Milne. When I last heard, he was a press photographer in Prince George. I have checked on email phone directory and there is a David Milne there...why don't you check and see if the same person, and report back?
Cheers!
